SYNOPSIS
taDAda! is a cheeky mashup of original spoken compositions intertwined with poetry by Dadaist artists Hugo Ball (1886 -1927), Kurt Schwitters (1887-1948) and Jaap Blonk (1953 -). The result is a curiously primitive, engaging work of theatre ranging from primitive syllables to familiar words . While the various pieces may include freeform sections, they are read from scripts at music stands to emphasize the deliberate crafting of the different “poems”. The overall piece is infused with movement, playfulness, energy and, for some, a theme or storyline may emerge. What it all means is up to you. Previous audience responses include the words vivid, unique, refreshing, profound, funny, and statements such as, “I was reminded to listen in a different way.” and, “I am grateful to have been introduced to this art form as an audience member in this particular production. Brava!
